The initial consultation is where our relationship and your landscape design starts. At this meeting we discuss and develop ideas for your landscape and how it might take shape. We not only talk about how the landscape will look, but begin to factor in functional aspects of your design to ensure that all of your needs are met. Budgetary considerations and timelines are considered, and from this meeting we will develop a preliminary scope of works, which outlines goals and priorities for the landscape renovation.
We then evaluate and measure the existing landscape to create a scaled ‘Base Plan’ to build upon when designing. Not only do we note the boundaries of the design but existing light, views, soils, drainage, and other horticultural conditions are also identified so we can holistically design the new zones / areas / features of your new landscape.
Hand drawn, colour conceptual drawings are created which identify the features discussed during the initial consultation and those recognised when drafting the ‘Base Plan’. The drawings include various possibilities for how the future landscape may be developed and take into consideration functional, aesthetic, and budgetary features of the design.
After discussing the conceptual drawings, we start working on a final plan this incorporates the most desired landscaping features whilst meeting to your budget. Your final plan is drawn to scale and shows building elements, plant species and botanical names of plants in their final locations, this way you will have an accurate representation of what your new landscape will look like before contraction and landscaping takes place.
The planting plan is specific to the placement of trees, shrubs, ground covers, and other plant materials, and gives you a scope of which plant breeds will be used in your design. Sizes, quantities, botanical names and locations are all also included in this detailed plan.
Upon completion and approval of the master and planting plans, we can assist you with gathering and interpreting bids from contractors. This ensures you will have a team that is able to deliver the highest quality workmanship possible and makes your landscaping renovation an enjoyable experience that sticks within budget and time frame.
During the landscaping and construction process, we communicate regularly with both you and the contractor. It is our role to quality check and ensure the installation of the landscape is to the highest quality and assist contractors with any design questions along the way. We also assist in the placement of the plants to ensure the integrity of the final composition of your landscape.
